West Ham United midfielder Felipe Anderson is undoubtedly one of the most talented players at the football club, but up until Saturday he had been struggling for months.

However, in a losing effort – 2-1 – against Manchester United, the Brazilian demonstrated that he was very much back to his best – and about time too. He was absolutely electric at Old Trafford and was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet twice.

It appeared that he was offside early on, only to have the offside flag deny him a pretty legitimate-looking goal. He ended up getting his just rewards in the second half, though, with a well-deserved strike to drag the Hammers back into it against all the odds.

Ultimately they couldn’t go on and secure a share of the spoils, but Anderson certainly did his upmost to try and make that happen. He was an absolute livewire on Saturday and United couldn’t live with him.

Marcos Rojo, in particular, really struggled to cope with him in a harrowing performance from the Argentine. His fellow South American gave him the run-around from start to finish.

This is what Hammers fans have been wanting to see from the player since the turn of the year. He is a top class playmaker on his day, we all know that, but he hasn’t had many of them in recent months.

However, he very much did on Saturday. He was sensational and he fully deserved his goal. If he can keep this kind of form up until the end of the campaign and ensure it was not just a flash in the pan then it will be a big boost for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
