The entire West Ham United fanbase are no doubt crying out for the club to sign a new striker this summer, and for good reason.

Marko Arnautovic’s form has dwindled since the whole China situation, Lucas Perez is nowhere to be seen, Andy Carroll has been abysmal, while Javier Hernandez continues to fire blanks despite improving recently.

The Hammers should look no further than Hoffenheim striker Joelinton, who is the prime target for Newcastle this summer according to the Sun.

They are willing to break their transfer record – recently set at around £20 million after signing Miguel Almiron – in order to sign the attacker and provide some relief to Salomon Rondon, if he stays on.

However, it is the Irons who should join the tug of war for his services, as he is perfect for the club, particularly if any of the current crop move on in the summer – and it is likely that they will.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals and has provided a further nine assists in 30 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, and they are exactly the type of numbers that West Ham must capitalise on after the failings of their own forwards this season.

They are crying out for a prolific striker and numbers such as these indicate that Joelinton can be just that if playing in the right environment, so West Ham must bring him to the Premier League as soon as the window opens.

He has the makings of a fantastic frontman, and there is no doubt that the Irons would be able to better the £40million fee that Newcastle are reportedly preparing to offer for him.

Swooping for him would no doubt break the hearts of many United fans after such a bleak few seasons in the transfer windows, but it would be worth getting the West Ham fans blowing bubbles when you consider the damage he could cause.
