West Ham have been linked to Olympiakos left-back Leonardo Koutris on multiple occasions and yet it’s quite possible he could end up at Newcastle United or Everton instead.

The Daily Mirror previously reported in November that the Hammers were plotting a £5million move to sign the 23-year-old in January before Greek outlet Sport 24 claimed in January that the player was a summer transfer target.

Given that the Hammers didn’t move for Koutris in January and that Sport 24’s report suggested the club wanted Koutris to replace Arthur Masuaku then a summer move did sound more believable.

However by not moving for the talented left-sided flyer in January there was always a risk they could end up missing out by hesitating.

This case could now be a reality and as according to The People’s print edition (Sunday March 24th, page 47) Koutris is being scouted by several Premier League clubs and the Toffees as well as the Magpies are thought to be considering a summer bid for him.

While the Hammers may be among the unnamed English clubs still watching him, they seemed to be the only Premier League club in the race previously.

This means that if Manuel Pellegrini’s side end up seeing the 23-year-old flyer rock up at St James Park or Goodison Park instead of the London Stadium, they’ll be kicking themselves for not acting sooner.

As Koutris may not have had an offer from other Premier League sides to consider and if Koutris had his sights set on move to England, it would have given the Hammers an easy deal to wrap up.
