Jordan Hugill, the player who signed for West Ham United in January 2018. However, he has not made a single appearance for them since he signed.

He is currently on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, where he has scored seven goals in 35 appearances for Tony Pulis’ side. This is not the most eye-catching of records, so it is not a surprise that he has never really made a mark with the Hammers either.

Hugill made just three Premier League appearances for them before being farmed out on loan. This is why it is not a shock that West Ham are willing to sell him for around £10 million, according to the Northern Echo.

This is bit steep for a player who has hardly featured in the top-flight and has only scored a handful of goals on loan this season. There is no denying the potential that he may have, although it is safe to say that the Irons are a little bit wide of the mark here.

West Ham obviously want to recruit a number of top-class players to the club this summer, and one of the ways they can be helped in doing that is by re-investing the money that they could receive from Hugill’s possible sale. However, it may be harder to sell him with a £10 million price tag.

The 26-year-old surely doesn’t have a future at the London Stadium. When the club signed him in 2018, it was no doubt baffling to everyone why the club swooped for this player from Preston North End. Now those who doubted him have essentially been proved right.

It is only logical to sell Hugill and cash in on him, of course – but for the right price. There is no guarantee that Middlesbrough will want to keep him permanently after an average season from him, so West Ham will have to do what is necessary to attract other clubs.

Either way, the forward is not worth that sort of money, it is as simple as that, and if the Hammers don’t lower their demand then they basically sabotaging the player’s chance of an exit.
