West Ham United fans should be getting very excited over a recent report by Calcio Mercato that claimed the Hammers had an interest in Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Hammers’ London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international, which is potentially problematic, but if West Ham can get the job done it will be a huge deal for the club.

The 22-year-old is a top class talent and he has excelled immensely since moving to Serie A. He would be an unbelievable addition to a fine West Ham side.

Imagine manager Manuel Pellegrini pairing Kessie with Declan Rice in central midfield. That’s a combative, dynamic partnership which would help rocket the Hammers up the Premier League table.

Mark Noble isn’t going to keep playing forever, and he’s shown signs this season that he’s not quite the player he once was. Pellegrini needs to find his successor at some point, and Kessie could be that guy.

This isn’t just because of his vast talent but due to the fact he is 22-years-old which implies he will continue to get better and better.

Obviously Arsenal and Spurs would be the favourites in this potential transfer battle, but West Ham could have the edge by offering the Ivorian more first team football.

He would be a big upgrade on anyone other than Rice in central midfield for the Hammers. He is a tremendous talent who’s addition would undoubtedly get all West Ham fans blowing bubbles.
