West Ham United will be in pursuit of a goalkeeper this summer who can provide short-term back-up to Lukasz Fabianski, according to Claret and Hugh.

The reliable website – which is a trusted source of news on the Hammers – claimed that a summer hunt is on the horizon as they need a replacement for Adrian as he is very likely to depart the London Stadium during this time.

The report adds that a number of Spanish clubs are interested in Adrian – who is out of contract at the end of the season – if he leaves the Irons.

Under-23s keeper Nathan Trott is likely to be found a club to go out on loan to due to West Ham not thinking that he is ready for the step up to the first team squad.

OPINION

There is no doubting the fact that Fabianski has been one of the most consistent player for the Hammers this season. The Irons have not had a decent keeper for a very long time, especially if you cast your mind back to when Joe Hart was on loan last season. That being said, a back-up keeper is definitely needed this summer, particularly has Adrian – who is on £50,000-a-week [Spotrac] – looks to be on his way out with his contract expiring. If Spanish clubs are interested, then West Ham should not hesitate to let him leave, which means that they can begin their search for a second choice right away. Every club needs a quality second choice to call upon, so West Ham must not compromise when they look for one. A keeper will need to be good in order to challenge Fabianski in the form that he is in at the moment, but who knows what they will come up with.
