West Ham are set to let left back Vashon Neufville leave this summer with no new contract deal coming his way before the end of the season, according to reliable news source Football Insider.

The reputable website, who have broken a number of exclusives, claim that the 19-year-old defender is set to depart the London Stadium when he returns from his current loan spell at Newport County, where he has managed to make just two appearances in total since joining in the winter transfer window.

It is stated that the youngster is out of contract this summer and that seeing as he is some way down the pecking order in the Hammers’ first team he will be released to find a new club.

Opinion

Neufville was once a very highly rated talented in east London but has obviously found it difficult to make that step up to first team football, hence his impending exit from the London Stadium. His loan at Newport was a chance for him to prove that he has the ability to make the grade in the professional game and his struggles there have done his hopes of earning a future with the Irons no good at all. The Hammers are looking to take their squad to the next level and as such young talents are going to be expected to hit new heights if they want to make the grade, Declan Rice perhaps the most notable example of that. Neufville was always fighting a losing battle to make a name for himself in the first team and he is best off leaving the club as a 19-year-old in the hunt for regular game time than floundering around in the reserves during his formative years.
