Exciting West Ham quartet Nathan Holland, Mesaque Dju, Xande Silva and Ben Johnson are expected to be challenging among the first team squad for a regular spot in the side next season, according to Football.London.

The news outlet claim that the rarely seen prospects – who have three senior appearances and a handful of unused substitute outings this season – are on Manuel Pellegrini’s radar for more regular chances among the Hammers’ first team after the summer.

It is stated that the quartet, who range in age from 22-year-old Silva to 19-year-old Johnson, the other pair both 20, are all expected to be in line for senior opportunities which could save the club millions of pounds in transfer fees.

Opinion

Forgetting about the money the youngsters will save the club if they can perform at a first team standard, it must be so exciting for West Ham fans to know they have so much exciting talent waiting on the very fringes of Pellegrini’s squad ready to take their chance. Not every club in England has the same reputation for producing quality prospects as the Hammers do and it had been a while since the east London faithful had seen someone of real talent make the grade. Of course now they have Declan Rice to drool over and it seems as though Pellegrini might well believe that the next generation of youth graduates could make a similar impact on proceedings at the London Stadium. That would take some doing considering how Rice has performed this season but to see the likes of Silva coming on in games during the fledgling stages of their career will still be enough for the supporters in the stands.
