Consistency is not something often associated with West Ham this season, and that was only reinforced by their recent 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last Saturday.

However, what this result told us more than anything is that Robert Snodgrass’ form is slowly declining, which is no doubt a cause for concern for boss Manuel Pellegrini, especially after he worked so hard to get back into the first team.

He offered nothing in attack at the weekend, so the manager would no doubt be searching for an alternative solution for their game against Fulham after the FA Cup break.

One player who could provide a solution is Manuel Lanzini, who has missed the entirety of the season so far with a long-term knee injury – but according to Pellegrini, as quoted by Football London, the midfielder could return for the Hammers’ next clash.

Pellegrini is no doubt counting down the days until the 25-year-old can perform again, as Snodgrass really was abysmal on Saturday.

He can play a lot better than he did, but that is not a risk worth taking against Fulham.

Lanzini is a risk worth taking, however, and Pellegrini will certainly be excited to welcome him back into the fold after not being seen at all this season.

The Argentine was in fine form before he got injured and the manager will be hoping and praying that he can return to this form as soon as possible, as it will give the Chilean more options in the attacking midfield.

The Irons are in a bit of a slump and the injection of some energy into their attack is exactly what they need to revitalise themselves.

Lanzini’s return could not come sooner for West Ham, and when it does, Pellegrini must get many fans bouncing by starting him against Fulham – if he is available.
