It is no secret that the West Ham United fans are after a stellar signing this deadline day, and they may have found it in the shape of Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu.

According to the Sun’s live blog [10.05am, 31/1], the Hammers have made an enquiry for the 24-year-old, but as of yet, they have not made an offer for his services – and the Hornets are demanding £30 million in order to sign him.

The winger has been in fantastic form this season so it is no surprise that the Irons have joined the race to snap him up, but in order to do that, they must stump up the cash.

This way, they can get themselves to the front of the queue for Deulofeu, but they best act as soon as possible seeing as it is deadline day.

Watford manager Javi Garcia has played him as a centre-forward on a few occasions this season, and this role appears to have suited him rather well – and that could not be better news for the Hammers.

With Lucas Perez potentially leaving the club today, West Ham would be wise to bring in a player who is as versatile as the Spanish ace.

Not only can he play up front, he can also play on the wing, an attribute that boss Manuel Pellegrini no doubt finds highly attractive.

West Ham would be on to an absolute blinder if they managed to secure the playmaker’s services, so they must swoop as soon as possible.

£30million may seem like a lot of money to stump up on deadline day, but if his performances this season are anything to go by, then it will definitely be worth it.

Time to get cracking, Pellegrini.
