West Ham and Crystal Palace are both keen on signing Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi on loan in January, according to the Daily Mail.

The national newspaper claim that the Hammers have expressed an interest in borrowing the 25-year-old forward from their Premier League rivals this month even though he is struggling for form while currently on loan at Valenica.

The Daily Mail report that Batshuayi is likely to have his spell at the Spanish club cut short as Valencia coach Marcelino wants to welcome better options to the club.

It is believed that Manuel Pellegrini is keen to boost his firepower this month and that the Chelsea forward is an option as he could return to Stamford Bridge.

OPINION

As the Mail states Batshuayi cost Chelsea £33million in 2016 but never managed to make himself a guaranteed starter at the club. The 25-year-old has managed to score 19 goals in 53 outings for the London club, but after having two loan spells away it’s clear that he isn’t destined to succeed for them. This is especially the case when you consider that the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace are already circling despite the fact Chelsea are in desperate need of a forward themselves. Given that Batshuayi isn’t even considered a player who could help them out if he returned early from his loan deal in Spain, it says all you need to know about his future. While the 25-year-old has been in dire form this season, scoring just three goals in 23 outings, he may be able to do a job for the Hammers. There would be little risk to taking a chance on him in January, given the fact it is a potential loan move that is on the cards rather than Pellegrini’s side having to splash the cash to get him.
