West Ham are mulling a potential exit for striker Javier Hernandez with Valencia set to increase their offer for the Mexico international, according to El Desmarque

The Spanish outlet report that the Hammers were set to analyse the situation on Monday and decide whether they would sell the 30-year-old if the right bid were to come in.

El Desmarque claim that Monaco have offered £9.5million while Valencia have bid just £7million, although the La Liga side are set to submit an improved offer soon.

It is said that West Ham are demanding £13million, although the £140,000-a-week ace may end up leaving for less [Spotrac].

OPINION

In all honesty it would be a surprise to see West Ham allow Hernandez to leave this month without bringing a replacement in. Manager Manuel Pellegrini does have quite a few options available to him up front, with Marko Arnautovic, Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll in the squad, but Hernandez is clearly the second-best player among that group behind the Austria international. To allow him to leave without a replacement would significantly weaken the West Ham squad, in return for a pretty average fee. Unless Valencia increase their offer by a large amount then this one is surely not going to take place, even if Hernandez does want to leave. There is not much time to secure a replacement, and a deal for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez is likely to include a loan back to La Liga if it does take place. The Mexico international is therefore likely to have to wait until the summer to secure an exit.
