OPINION

It seems that Arthur Masuaku gets pelters every single time he steps on the pitch for West Ham these days, and the first half against Wolves on Wednesday was no different. The DR Congo international was a surprise starter at left-back after first-choice Aaron Cresswell was ruled out through injury, and the 25-year-old did his hopes of overthrowing the Englishman no help with a poor first-half display. Masuaku’s attacking talents are clear for all to see, but his defensive work is quite frankly atrocious at times, and that was on full show in the first 45 minutes. As noted in many tweets below, it did not take long for Wolves to find Masuaku out of position and beat him down the left flank. It was something which happened countless times in the first half, and really proved that Masuaku is not good enough to start there for the Hammers. Huge improvement needed in the second period, if he isn’t withdrawn from the action by Manuel Pellegrini first.
