West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic could be dropped from the squad to take on Bournemouth this Saturday, according to the Times.

The newspaper reports on their website that there are doubts over whether the 29-year-old star is in the right mindset to face the Cherries at the weekend after he said he was keen on a move to China in the current transfer window.

The Hammers want in excess of £40 million for their wantaway star, but Shanghai SIPG latest bid only stands at £35 million and was knocked back by the East London outfit as a result.

OPINION

Despite the fact that Arnautovic is one of West Ham’s biggest goalscoring threats, it may be wise to drop him on Saturday if he is not in the right frame of mind to play. His heart is set on a move to China, so why would he give his all playing for West Ham at the moment? Bournemouth is undoubtedly not at the forefront of his mind at the moment with all this furore, and playing someone like that would be a major risk for Manuel Pellegrini. It must be noted that the supporters are not going to take too kindly to a player who wants out of West Ham, so perhaps it is the right thing to drop him. Axing him from the team is not an indication that he is about to be sold, however, so fans must not jump the gun too quickly if the manager makes such a decision. He is staying put – well, for the time being anyway.
