West Ham United must attempt to sign Young Boys player Kevin Mbabu in the January transfer window as he is the perfect solution to their needs at right-back.

With summer signing Ryan Fredericks currently injured and veteran Pablo Zabaleta unlikely to be able to play every single game at the age of 33-years-old, a move for Mbabu makes complete sense next month.

The 23-year-old has recently admitted to Neue Zurcher Zeitung that he would love a switch to the Premier League and this is an admission that the Hammers should jump on as quickly as they can.

“My dream is to return to the Premier League,” he said.

The right-back did not enjoy the best of times during his spell with Newcastle United, but since he has moved to Young Boys, he has entertained fans with his blistering pace and is rather good at providing assists to his teammates.

In his 2017/18 campaign, Mbabu provided eight assists in 44 outings across all competitions and regularly created glorious chances for his colleagues to put the ball in the back of the net.

The ace would no doubt jump at the chance of joining forces with the Irons if they came calling in January – and it is a move that would benefit both parties by the sounds of it.

Mbabu possesses the defensive strength needed to compete in the top-flight – something which Manuel Pellegrini would no doubt be impressed by – and he would provide healthy competition to Fredericks when he returns from the sidelines.

There is only so long that Zabaleta can go on as the manager’s first choice at right-back, but that could be set to change if Mbabu made the move to the London Stadium.

Pellegrini must get the fans bouncing by swooping for the speedster in January, as he is just the player they have been looking for.
