West Ham must cash in on attacker Javier Hernandez after it was reported that Valencia would potentially pay £7million to sign him in the summer.

The Daily Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog (14:56) claimed that the Spanish giants wanted to take the 30-year-old Hammers forward on loan for the season and would include a £7m clause in a deal that would see them able to purchase him for that price.

While Hernandez has been useful as of late, the Hammers must cash in on their forward as the seven-figure fee mooted is a very reasonable price for him.

The attacker may have managed to score four goals in 13 league outings this season but after being dreadful in his 2017/18 campaign, having someone willing to pay that amount for him is generous.

This is especially the case when you consider he hasn’t been injury free this season and when you take into account that he’s 30, a not so glamorous age for a top-flight forward.

It’s also perhaps the best offer the Hammers can expect to get for him as there’s few clubs who’d consider Hernandez an option given the fact they’d had to find a way to cover his bumper £140,000-a-week salary (Source: Spotrac).

While Manuel Pellegrini has been looking to Hernandez as of late, he has seen Andy Carroll return to fitness to give him a fresh option and handed Xande Silva his first taste of senior action on Sunday with the 21-year-old sensation capable of playing as forward if needed.

There’s also the fact Marko Arnautovic, who often plays a lone forward, recently made his return from injury in the 2-0 to Burnley so that could mean Hernandez’s minutes are about to dry up.

While the Hammers may have paid more than £7million to sign Hernandez in 2017, you feel given how well his move has gone and his age, the Premier League club simply must cash in if Valenica’s seven-figure proposal comes to light.
