Matt Le Tissier heaped praise on West Ham attacker Marko Arnautovic and recommended Chelsea sign the forward to end their mission for a new forward.

The Sky Sports pundit admitted that while the 29-year-old didn’t score against Newcastle United on Saturday that he was some player and that he’d be surprised if one of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’ didn’t nick him from the Hammers.

Tissier added that Arnautvoic could do a job for the Blues given that they need a new forward and said he was definitely good enough for them.

“In Marko Arnautovic I know he didn’t score today, but he is some player, he really is,” said the pundit on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday (December 1st, 17:22).

“I’ll be surprise if one of the big boys didn’t nick him, maybe not in January but at the end of the season. I just think he’s good enough to play in any of them.

“I mean Chelsea, Chelsea are looking for a centre forward, he could do that job.”

OPINION

Arnautovic doesn’t need any help getting on Chelsea’s radar as the London club are no doubt probably very aware that he could do a job at Stamford Bridge. However the Hammers must ensure that he never ends up at the Blues as the longer he stays at the London Stadium, the better it is for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Arnautovic may not have shone bright against the Magpies on Saturday but he is the star man at the club. The 29-year-old is currently leading the club’s scoring charts for the season with five goals in 13 games and that shows how important he is to the team. While Arnautovic may wish to play in the Champions League, who wouldn’t, the Hammers have to find away to ensure he sticks around with them while Pellegrini puts together a team capable of finishing in the top-half as well as challenging for a place in Europe.
