West Ham hearts will shatter if the latest report on the possible return to action for Manuel Lanzini is anywhere near being spot-on.

The Daily Mirror reported that the Argentinian playmaker could miss the rest of the season, like originally feared, despite there previously being suggestions that he could return in February.

Lanzini is a phenomenal player and was the Hammers’ creative spark in their midfield last season as he was involved in 14 goals across the 29 appearances he made.

Manuel Pellegrini’s current side are screaming out for a player such as the 25-year-old as you feel he could be the final piece of the puzzle that would see the Hammers fly up the table.

While the London club are currently doing well and are on a winning streak, knowing that a player like Lanzini was still set to return to the fold this season, would have had supporters dreaming big.

For this reason Hammers fans were no doubt anticipating having the midfielder back for the second half of the season in some capacity as there has been constantly positive updates on his recovery.

Even reliable Hammers insider EXWHUEmployee stated in September that a possible return could await the playmaker in February.

The reputable source of news on the Hammers said on ‘The West Ham Way’ podcast [46.10] that Lanzini could return as early as February 2019, even though he suffered a severe injury.

Yet it seems hearts are set to shatter over Lanzini’s possible return if the Mirror’s latest report is spot-on as he won’t be able to aid his side’s cause this season, meaning the Hammers will lack a player like him for the rest of the campaign unless they splurge in the January window.
