Martin Keown raved about West Ham attacker Robert Snodgrass after his display in his side’s 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The BBC pundit described the 31-year-old winger’s goal during his latest outing against Palace as wonderful and declared that the player deserved a big mention for his recent form.

Keown then added that he thought Snodgrass had seized his chance since returning from a loan spell at Aston Villa in order to become an integral part of the Hammers’ first-team.

“I think Snodgrass as well deserves a big mention,” said Keown on BBC One’s Match of the Day (Saturday, December 8, 23:07).

“One goal, three assists recently, he’s made seven starts Gary, I think he’s been away at Villa then came back and really taken the opportunity.

“That is a wonderful strike, look what it meant to him, he’s an integral part of the team.”

OPINION

Snodgrass has been a surprise package for West Ham this season as his future at the London Stadium looked bleak to say the least upon the 2017/18 campaign ending. The set-piece specialist spent last season excelling on loan for Aston Villa in the Championship and there were clearly question marks over whether he could raise his game even more to consistently deliver the goods in the Premier League for the Hammers. However Snodgrass has done just that as he is excelling at the moment for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. The 31-year-old was in tip-top form against Palace and was rewarded with a goal for his efforts, a goal which will probably be replayed multiple times as it was a wonderful strike just like Keown described. Hopefully Snodgrass is able to keep his form up as due to how good he is when crossing the ball into the box, he is bound to create chances for the Hammers’ strike-force to blast home. Aside from his ability, it’s worth noting that the 31-year-old works very hard during games and that is something fans can appreciate.
