Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock remarked on the performance of West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson against his side on Tuesday and it was rather bizarre.

The Bluebirds boss claimed that he had never seen the 25-year-old Brazilian as quiet as he was on Tuesday and suggested that he may have been able to shake off Cardiff defender Bruno Manga once during the game, but that was about it.

“Well I thought I’ve never seen (Felipe) Anderson as quiet this season,” said Warnock after Cardiff lost 3-1 to the Hammers on Tuesday, as quoted by Wales Online.

“He ripped Newcastle to pieces and yes he lost Bruno once but I thought Morrison and Bamba did well tonight, I can’t remember the strikers doing much at all.”

Yet Warnock is so far off the mark with his comments, that you feel like he was watching a different game.

Anderson was sublime and tore Cardiff apart during his side’s 3-1 win as his passes were pinpoint and regularly split his opponent’s defence.

There was maybe an odd 10 minute spell where the winger was quiet, but overall he ran Cardiff ragged using his pace to great effect and deserves lots of plaudits for his performance.

Anderson has struggled at times this season for the Hammers due to still adapting to the demands of the Premier League but in Tuesday’s game he looked so comfortable and the Bluebirds looked frightened as a result.

Warnock’s remarks wrongly underestimate the 25-year-old’s latest display as they’re simply bizarre as you’d think that Warnock couldn’t possibly deny how good the player was after watching him firsthand.
