West Ham striker Lucas Perez has been offered to Real Betis ahead of the January transfer window, according to ABC de Sevilla.

The regional newspaper report that the La Liga club have received several offers from agents and intermediaries since their desire to sign a striker in January became known.

ABC claim that Perez is one of those players who have been offered to Betis, although it is not stated by whom, with the club unlikely to pursue the 30-year-old due to his high wages.

It is said that Betis were previously interested in the striker, but again were put off by his salary.

Perez has scored four goals in nine appearances in all competitions this season for the Hammers.

OPINION

It would be a surprise if it was West Ham themselves who offered up Perez to Betis, with the former Arsenal striker having been at the London Stadium for less than half a season. Admittedly, the 30-year-old has not made the impact he would have liked, with just nine appearances in all competitions so far, but a brace against Cardiff on Tuesday night could act as a springboard for success in east London. That double takes his tally up to four goals in those nine games, which is rather impressive considering most of those games have come from the bench. Hopefully that performance will make Manuel Pellegrini sit up and take notice of Perez, and begin to trust him more for the Hammers. Either way, a January exit would not seem to make sense for anyone, with Betis uninterested in any case. An exit may come to fruition in the summer depending on how the rest of the season goes.
