West Ham have done a good job of spreading the goals out this season, but there’s no doubt that they could do with more help in forward areas.

Marko Arnautovic has endured injury problems and off the field issues this campaign, while neither Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez appear to be the answer at the London Stadium.

Perhaps, then, they should join Premier League rivals Newcastle in pursuing Leeds hitman Kemar Roofe. The Daily Mirror reported on Saturday that the Magpies were interested in bringing the 25-year-old to St James’ Park in January.

While he would be vital in aiding Newcastle’s survival hopes, Benitez will only be able to move for him if he gets the funds he wants next month.

West Ham, on the other hand, could go out and buy Roofe as soon as the window opens, with the only problem being Leeds’ understandable reluctance to let the player go mid-promotion push.

The Englishman is enjoying a phenomenal season in the second tier, netting 13 times in 18 games for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. He is a man in form and he has shown a propensity for popping up with big goals.

That kind of prolificness and winning mentality would instantly enhance the Hammers, while dealing a blow to their Premier League rivals in the process.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side would also undoubtedly be able to offer higher wages than Newcastle, making it likely that Leeds hotshot Roofe would choose them over the Magpies if rival bids were made.

Some attacking help in January is an absolute must for West Ham, and Roofe could be just the man to fire them even further up the Premier League table.
