OPINION
Mark Noble certainly didn’t enjoy the easiest of afternoons in his team’s 2-0 defeat to Burnley on Sunday. He, and the rest of his team mates, were given the run around by a resurgent Clarets side who looked nothing like the dismal team that has shown up in recent weeks. Indeed, the roles appeared to be reversed. The Hammers looked all over the place and Noble was certainly culpable. The senior ace just couldn’t get to grips with the game and you wonder, on this seasons’ showings, whether he and Declan Rice are capable of playing together in a midfield two. Pedro Obiang put in a solid effort alongside Rice in the win over Southampton on Thursday so it was strange to see him dropped by Manuel Pellegrini. It was a gamble that didn’t pay off for the Chilean as Noble produced a poor display. You can completely understand the supporters’ frustration because it wasn’t Noble’s finest day at the office.
