West Ham United transfer target Gabriel Barbosa has declared his interest in a move to the Premier League in the future as the Irons state their intent to try secure his signing, according to the the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers, Everton and Crystal Palace are all interested in the 22-year-old, who has been hailed as the next Neymar and has earned the nickname ‘Gabigol’ for his goalscoring exploits. Inter Milan are said to be willing to sell for £18million.

The attacker told the Mail: “They are all important clubs with top quality players. Hopefully everything will be good for everyone if we reach an agreement. There are many things involved, mainly Inter Milan as they hold my rights.

“The Premier League always had great strikers and it is a joy to watch on TV. It is very competitive, fast-paced and dynamic, with loads of title contenders. There is quality everywhere, that’s why everybody loves it and I am no different. It attracts me a lot.”

OPINION

Well, this is interesting, isn’t it? Barbosa has been linked with West Ham a lot in recent months and now we’ve received confirmation that the player himself is interested in a move to England. The Brazilian has reinvigorated his career with Santos this season having suffered a disastrous spell at Inter, and he now looks back to the form that had everyone so excited about him in the first place. £18million isn’t much in today’s market and Barbosa certainly seems to have the talent to make an impact, even if his torrid time in Italy is cause for concern. With Everton and Palace both also interested in the player it will be a bit of a battle for the Hammers to secure the striker, but they certainly have a need up front with the futures of Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll all uncertain. It’s good news for the club that Barbosa wants to move to England, but concerning that there is so much competition for him.
