Leicester City right-back Danny Simpson would be the ideal solution for West Ham United after the recent injury blow to Ryan Fredericks.

As reported by insider Claret and Hugh, the summer signing is set to face a spell on the sidelines for at least three months, news that would have left boss Manuel Pellegrini sweating – especially as he only has Pablo Zabaleta to call upon in that role at the moment, which is not the greatest scenario.

Seeming as the manager is short of options at right-back, a swoop for Simpson would make complete sense.

It would not take much to prize the proven Premier League player away from the Foxes, as his game time has been limited this season to just one appearance in the league and one in the Carabao Cup.

He would no doubt be seeking regular game time away from the King Power Stadium, so what better way to do that than help out a team who have been struck by injury time after time.

Signing him on a permanent deal would prove dividends to West Ham not only because Fredericks is injured, but also because Zabaleta is set to retire at the end of the campaign.

Simpson has also played for the likes of Queen’s Park Rangers, Manchester United and Newcastle United – so his proven experience would ensure he can slot straight into the starting XI.

His current contract at Leicester expires in 2019, so it is likely that he would be available for a relatively cheap fee – and the fact that he is on £45,000-a-week [Spotrac] is also a very attractive prospect for the Irons.

Pellegrini would pull off a blinder by masterminding a swoop for the 31-year-old ace, as he is just the player that the East London-based outfit need in January.
