Many West Ham fans on social media annihilate attacker Michail Antonio for his performance in the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The 28-year-old winger was brought on as a substitute by Manuel Pellegrini in the 64th minute of the match to replace Pedro Obiang and had enough time to leave a lot of fans fuming.
One Hammers supporter tweeted that Antonio shouldn’t be allowed on the pitch, while another claimed that they were truly gutted over the player’s latest outing as he had clearly lost his touch, pace and could neither dribble or shoot.
COMMENTARY
Ouch. The Hammers fans below don’t mince their words as they harshly rip apart Antonio after watching their side draw with the Terriers. However truth be told, it’s hard to not see where they are coming from. As one fan pointed out Antonio looks like a shadow of the player he was previously and perhaps another supporter is right to suggest injury has destroyed him. The 28-year-old has had terrible luck regarding injuries in recent season and they must have taken a toll on his body. While Antonio clearly tries his best for the Hammers, he doesn’t learn from his mistakes and is unable to make a positive impact. The winger kept shooting from distance against the Terriers despite seeing all his efforts barely test the goalkeeper and instead of changing tact, he just kept firing from long-range. Also Antonio has a tendency to lose possession on a regular basis and that was once again the case on Saturday.

I think his injury has destroyed him, he is a shadow of the player he was

The reaction from the bench when Antonio gave the ball away (probably the fourth time in a row) might give a little indication on his future at the club. I’ve tried to defend him but good god that was a outrageously bad display from Antonio.

I am truly gutted about Antonio. Was a fan favourite and a complete winger. Lost his pace, lot his touch, can’t shoot, can’t dribble, never in the right position.

The demise of Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell over the past couple of seasons is actually astonishing. Never seen anything like it before. https://t.co/4bDyVdj6MP

Antonio is so good at running and beating players but the man can’t pass or shoot to save his life, he should just do 100m
