West Ham United are one of four Premier League teams interested in Nantes goal machine Emiliano Sala, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claims that Everton, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all also been tracking the frontman, who has hit an impressive 12 goals in 13 games in Ligue 1 this season.

It is understood that Nantes have slapped a £25million valuation on the 28-year-old, having previously believed to be willing to deal for just £10million.

The Hammers are said to want another option up front, with the team expecting bids from Besiktas and other for Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.

OPINION

It makes sense for West Ham to be looking at new strikers to freshen up their squad. There is uncertainty over the futures of both Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, while Andy Carroll is constantly injured and Lucas Perez has done next to nothing since joining the club from Arsenal in the summer. Clearly attacking reinforcements are needed, and Sala sounds as good an option as any other. The Argentine has lit up the French top flight this campaign, using his bruising frame to good effect. His physicality suggests that he would be able to cope with the rigours of English football, although you never quite know how prolific strikers from foreign leagues are going to fare in the Premier League. Clearly the competition for Sala will be fierce, but West Ham’s interest is dire, while £25million is a drop in the ocean for Manuel Pellegrini’s team these days. Perhaps a January bid will be incoming.
