Chelsea are one of several clubs interested in signing West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic, according to his brother.

Danijel Arnautovic, who also acts as the 29-year-old’s agent, has suggested this week that the Austria international may look to leave the London Stadium for a bigger club.

He has now named the Blues as one of the interested parties ahead of the January transfer window, with there apparently being several other sides also in the hunt.

Speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio, he said: Many Premier League clubs are following him, like Chelsea and Everton, but they are not the only ones”.

Arnautovic, who stands at 6ft 3in, has scored five goals in ten Premier League games for the Hammers this season [Transfermarkt].

OPINION

Losing Arnautovic in January would be a disaster for the Hammers, who would be stripped of their best player and attacking talisman. The 29-year-old has been quite brilliant for the club since they signed him from Stoke, and barring a tough early period, he has been a constant source of goals for the Irons. His impact has been so great that he is easily one of the first names on the team sheet at the London Stadium, and is clearly the club’s most important player at the moment. To lose him to a Premier League rival would be an even more bitter blow, with Chelsea looking like a possible destination for the Austria international. It is clear that the Blues can offer Arnautovic a higher level of football, and potentially Champions League next season as well. From their point of view he would certainly be an interesting acquisition, with Arnautovic offering them a different option up front aside from Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, both of whom have struggled at times this season.
