Loaning out young players is supposed to help an individual gain experience and progress as a player, and West Ham winger Sead Haksabanovic is no exception.

He was clearly not going to be getting any game time with the senior team any time soon, so the Hammers made the wise decision to loan him out to second-tier Spanish side Malaga for the duration of this season.

However, that loan stint is arguably not going to plan, as the 19-year-old has failed to make any appearances whatsoever for the Spanish outfit.

This is not going to do his progress any good, and West Ham will no doubt be disappointed that he is not gaining the relevant experience.

For this reason, the Irons must rip up Haksabanovic’s loan deal as soon as possible, as he is clearly not going to get better in Spain’s second-tier without playing at all.

It is shame, as the attacker has been previously touted as a prospect to watch, but West Ham cannot afford to lend him out when he is not really making any progress.

Haksabanovic will be disappointed himself that he is not getting the regular game time that he desires, especially as it will more than likely impact on his future at the London Stadium.

It could mean that, as he cannot hold down a place in a second-tier team in Spain, there is no chance he will be able to do the same for a side in the Premier League.

His lack of playing time demonstrates that he is not at an acceptable standard just yet, but West Ham should get him back and maybe sort out another loan at a club, preferably in England, that is willing to give him game-time.
