West Ham United will look to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday when they travel to the King Power to take on Leicester City.

The Hammers are coming in on the back of a disappointing 1-0 loss to rivals Tottenham, a game which they will feel they definitely deserved something from.

Opponents Leicester are coming off a similar defeat by Arsenal, with the Foxes outplaying the Gunners for large swathes of the 3-1 loss on Monday.

The home side’s task however looks to have got much harder on Saturday with the news that Jamie Vardy is a doubt after contracting a stomach bug, as reported by Sky Sports.

Claude Puel confirmed that Vardy has returned to training on Thursday, but admitted that the 31-year-old had really not been well and was a doubt to start the match.

“We’ll see – he came back for today’s training session. He was not well. He had a stomach problem. He couldn’t finish the game on Monday and we will see if he can start or not for this game [West Ham],” he said.

“We will see if he can make progress. He had a problem and needed a little more time and we will see if he’ll be available or not.”

This means that Leicester are likely to be without one of their biggest weapons on Saturday in what will be a big boost for West Ham’s hopes of winning this one.

Even if Vardy does recover enough to start, the former England international will likely be off the top of his game and pose far less of a threat to the West Ham defence.

In such a tight game these small margins will be what decides victory, and West Ham now have the upper hand on Saturday as they seek just their third win of the season.
