Some West Ham United fans have panned the club after they posted a Twitter clip of Robert Snodgrass pressing during their loss to Tottenham at the weekend.

The clip shows the Scotland international closing down Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, with the caption: “We didn’t get the result, but we loved this from Snoddy in the 76th minute  #Workrate.”

The post has drawn hundreds of reactions from fans of West Ham and other clubs, many of whom have mocked the club for their decision to post the clip.

Forever West Ham have rounded up some of the best tweets:

OPINION

These West Ham fans seem decidedly unimpressed with this tweet from the club’s official Twitter account, and who can blame them? The fact is that they lost to Tottenham in a game which they could easily have come away with something, and for the club to try and put a gloss on it with a clip of Snodgrass pressing is laughable. This was a huge game against one of their closest London rivals, a chance to really establish themselves as a force in the Premier League this season, and a loss means that there are few positives to take away in many people’s eyes. Yes, Snodgrass is showing good commitment here, and that has been recognised by some fans in the thread, but is that not the least you can expect from the Hammers? They are all earning huge money to play football for a living at a prestigious club, pressing hard should be a given. All in all this is an embarrassing episode for their social media team and one they will no doubt learn from after such a big response.
