A number of West Ham United supporters have been praising midfielder Robert Snodgrass for his performance against Leicester City on Saturday.
The Scotland international was influential in the team’s 1-1 draw, producing an industrious display that put some of his more lackadaisical team mates in the shade.
Although it was Fabian Balbuena who was on the scoresheet for the Hammers, the team’s fans clearly appreciated Snodgrass’s efforts as well, turning to Twitter to sing the winger’s praises.
COMMENTARY
This is exactly the sort of performance that Snodgrass needed. The 31-year-old has an opportunity to step up and make an impact in injured winger Andriy Yarmolenko’s absence. He did just that against the Foxes on Saturday as he produced a performance brimming with both quality and industry. He worked hard throughout and never gave the Leicester defence a moment’s rest. This was an important game for the former Hull City man and he rose to the occasion with a display that will have Manuel Pellegrini thinking ‘this is a player I can’t afford to leave out’. There are flashier players in this West Ham team, record signing Felipe Anderson for one, but few who work as hard as Snodgrass. He seemed determined to make an impact against the Foxes and he certainly did that with a super showing. You can see why the Hammers faithful were so happy with his efforts.
