West Ham United expect attacker Marko Arnautovic to be fit to play in their Premier League clash with Tottenham on Saturday, according to Sky Sports.

The key Austrian international has been managing a knee injury of late, but is expected to feature against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Arnautovic scored the winner in his country’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland last Friday, but then sat out the rest of the international break as part of an agreement between West Ham and Austria.

Sky’s report states that Arnautovic sustained the injury in the team’s 3-1 win over Everton last month, and the 29-year-old has been suffering with it ever since.

OPINION

This is, obviously, tremendous news for West Ham fans everywhere. Arnautovic is the team’s talisman and most gifted player and to have been without him for such a big game like the one against Spurs would have been a disaster. However, it now appears that that won’t be the case. Credit has to go to the club for ensuring that there was an agreement in place regarding how much football theĀ Austrian would play over the international break, because it would have beenĀ terrible for him to aggravate his knee injury further while representing his country. Instead, it seems that he will return to East London ready to take on one of the team’s local rivals. He will need to be at his best if the club are to take down Pochettino’s men, and Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will be hugely grateful that he’s set to be available for the clash.
