Some Everton fans slammed defender Mason Holgate after watching his display during their side’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Sunday.
The 21-year-old centre back played the full 90 minutes of the Toffees’ showdown with the Hammers at Goodison Park and several supporters took to Twitter in order to fume over his performances.
One Toffees fan simply tweeted that Holgate was abysmal while a few supporters went a little bit further by labelling his latest display as an embarrassing.
Forever West Ham has rounded up some of the best tweets below:
A dreadful performance from front to back from #Everton
Only Digne, Bernard & Walcott at a push can emerge with any credit today.
DCL’s touch isn’t good enough, Holgate was abysmal & Sigurdsson other than the goal was anonymous. No leaders on the pitch. #COYB #UTFT #EFC— Mike Peters (@djmikepeters) September 16, 2018

Abhorrent day all round from the players and manager.
DCL – Completely ineffectual
Walcott – Clearly not fit
Gueye – MIA
Tosun – Confidence looks shot
Holgate – Utter nightmare.
Pickford – Laughable mistake
Silva – Made tactical decisions so bad it bordered on inept. #EFC— Paul McAllister (@p_mcallister123) September 16, 2018
Never seen a centre half lose more battles than Holgate either, it's embarrassing

Some really poor performances today from Holgate, Gueye, DCL and Tosun, we made it far too easy for them and gifted goals thankfully we have first team players to come back in

OPINION
Normally it is the Hammers’ defence being ripped apart but that wasn’t the case on Sunday. As demonstrated by this section of Toffees supporters, there were several defenders who let their side down in order for Manuel Pellegrini’s side to easily take all three points from the clash at Goodison Park. However it was Holgate who got the brunt of the blame when it came to pointing fingers at the defender responsible for helping the Hammers win 3-1. The centre-back, who earns £25,000-a-week at Goodison Park (Source: Spotrac), was a blessing in disguise for the Hammers so no wonder Toffees fans were fuming with him. Holgate never looked comfortable and seemed to be overwhelmed by the quality that the Hammers’ current attacking options posses. The 21-year-old had looked okay ahead of his display on Sunday in his past five outings this season but it’s clear that based on this reaction for him and his general display on Sunday, he shouldn’t be anywhere near the Toffees’ first-team.
