Harry Redknapp believes West Ham have a chance of picking up their first points of the season when they take on Everton after the international break.

The former Hammers manager shared that he had been left unimpressed by the Toffees despite their unbeaten start to the 2018/19 campaign and thought Manuel Pellegrini’s side had a chance against them.

“It’s been a horrendous start for West Ham, but they can still do it,” said Redknapp on Thursday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, as quoted by talkSPORT’s website.

“They need to pick up some results quickly, and I think they’ve got a chance at Everton.

“I saw Everton the other week at Bournemouth and I couldn’t say I was that impressed, and they were poor last week at home to Huddersfield, where they were fortunate to get a draw.

“So it’s a chance for West Ham.

“They played quite well at Arsenal but got beat, so they need to turn in a performance quickly and the one at Everton is a big game, for sure.”

OPINION

Redknapp claims West Ham could beat the Toffees after watching Marco Silva’s side struggle against Huddersfield town and that is a bold prediction. As the Merseyside club have yet to suffer a defeat so it will be a shock if Pellegrini’s side manage to turn their luck around against them. While Redknapp shares that he thought the Hammers played well against Arsenal, they still were torn apart and suffered 3-1 defeat courtesy of the Gunners due to the leaky defence. If the Hammers are to get a result against the Toffees then they need to either somehow find a solution to their defensive woes or simply try to outscore their Premier League rivals. It’s hard to imagine Pellegrini’s current side being able to do either given their current form but perhaps the international break will be a blessing in disguise. The Hammers are set to take on Everton at Goodison Park on September 16 and really need to ensure that at the very least they avoid defeat.
