John Motson delivered his verdict on the progress West Ham had made in recent weeks during his prediction for their upcoming clash with Manchester United.

The legendary football figure shared that he thought things were now looking up at the London Stadium after two good results in the league as well as beating Macclesfield Town 8-0 in the EFL Cup.

Motson shared that given the positivity surrounding the Hammers as  Man United seem a bit desperate, he was backing Saturday’s showdown to end as a 1-1 draw.

“Well West Ham v Manchester United, I’m gonna sit on the fence in this one,” said Motson on talkSPORT (Friday September 28, 14:52pm).

“Manchester United for all that’s gone on this week desperately in need of a performance never mind a result.

“West Ham things are looking up at bit at the London Stadium aren’t they? I know it was against Macclesfield the eight goals but nevertheless two good results before that so I’m going to go 1-1.”

OPINION

It seems Motson has been impressed by the recent results of the Hammers even if he isn’t backing them to cause an upset by beating Man United at the London Stadium on Saturday. The Hammers face a tough task taking all three points when they face Jose Mourinho’s side as their opposition will be going all out to end their miserable time. Man United surprisingly crashed out of the League Cup on Tuesday via penalties courtesy of Championship side Derby County and will be looking to instantly bounce back. There’s no denying that Mourinho has several talented players to call upon however given there seems to be some issues going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford involving midfielder Paul Pogba then perhaps the Hammers should be aiming for a win. Manuel Pellegrini’s side showed how they could defend well as a team during the 0-0 draw with Chelsea last weekend and need to work as a unit once again in order to grind out a result on Saturday.
