West Ham attacker Javier Hernandez is in the last chance saloon when it comes to proving his worth at the London Stadium as Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata is thought to be facing a January exit.

Transfer Market Web reported on Monday that the 25-year-old Chelsea attacker, who earns £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge (Source: Spotrac), might be loaned out in January due to his own desire but also because manager Maurizio Sarri hasn’t been thrilled by his start to the season.

The news outlet also stated that the Hammers were one of the clubs who targeted Morata in the summer and that they could try to loan him for the second-half of the season due to his availability.

Due to the Blues attacker facing an exit from the club then it seems likely that Manuel Pellegrini may look to sign him because as it stands the club are too reliant on Marko Arnautovic.

Andy Carroll is yet to feature this season to injury, and can never be trusted to stay fit, Lucas Perez is still settling into life at the club after joining in the summer, while Hernandez has struggled in his appearances so far.

The 5ft 8in tall Mexican international (Source: ESPN) has played five games across all competitions this season, scoring one while assisting one, and generally just doesn’t look on the brink of becoming the lethal finisher Pellegrini needs him to be.

Hernandez was previously a force in front of goal in the Premier League with Manchester United, but after not looking right this season and only managing eight goals in 33 games last season then hope is fading that he’ll ever deliver the goods consistently while wearing a West Ham shirt.

So given that Hernandez a staggering £140,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac) at the London Stadium then clearly he is at risk of being binned off in the next window in order to make room to pay Morata’s wages if he ends up being available to loan.

The Chelsea forward may have struggled in the Premier League so far, he has scored 12 goals in 35 outings, but he shown glimpses of his immense talent which imply a change of scenery may see his true potential unleashed.

This means it will be more worthwhile to have Morata in the squad even if he is on loan rather than Hernandez, who hasn’t particularly shone in his time, as the 25-year-old is likely to benefit the Hammers’ cause more.

Though with a long time to go until the January window opens, Hernandez still has time to prove his worth to Pellegrini by firing in the goals and being a general asset to his side.

However it’s clear if he fails to do that then he might as well pack his bags as a swoop for Morata, who reportedly is attracting the Hammers’ attention in the summer, could well be viable.
