OPINION
The way this Hammers team is playing why shouldn’t fans get excited about facing their rivals in the next round of the cup? West Ham knocked Spurs out at the same stage of the same competition last season so why can’t they do it again this time? The reaction of the supporters is entirely understandable, particularly given the way the team is playing at the moment. Pellegrini has finally got his boys firing and Hammers supporters are seeing some terrific football as a result. Following an emphatic victory over United on Saturday the supporters are rightfully thinking that anything is possible. Things just seem to be clicking at the London Stadium right now, so West Ham will fancy themselves to knock their London rivals out of the Carabao Cup for the second year running. Tottenham are finding their feet again lately after a tough run of form so it’s far from a foregone conclusion that Pellegrini’s side will progress, but you can certainly understand why the club’s supporters are feeling so confident.
