A section of Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to slam Willian’s display in the 0-0 draw with West Ham United on Sunday.
The Blues shared the spoils with the Irons at the London Stadium at the weekend, with West Ham wasting a number of opportunities to put the game to bed in the second half.
However, many Chelsea supporters were far from pleased at the display of their £120,000-a-week [Spotrac] man, and they took to the social media site to issue their response.
Some comments included “sub-par”, “dead before half time” and “absolute disgrace.”

What a poor game that was. Willian for me was dire. In fact most of our attack was flat. West ham defended well and very organised. We go again next week. Fingers crossed better then today. #WHUCHE #CFC

Willian was dead before half time. Kante, having to work a lot more than he has in this system, also looked a bit off today. Perks of playing twice in just over two days. Argh. This game would have been perfect for Fabregas to come on, as well. Just bad choices. #WHUCHE #CFC

Genuinely poor performance from #cfc today against a team they should’ve beaten easily. #Hazard, #Willian, #Kante all have sub-par matches. No striker threat really.
Next week will continue the reality check. @LondonBluePod

OPINION
The Chelsea fans are right – Willian was definitely below the standard that he is usually at against West Ham. He looked tired, and for this reason, he looked rather lazy for the majority of the match. It is hard not to agree with them – a player of his ability should not be putting out performances such as these. With his lightning pace, he should have ran the West Ham defence ragged – but he showed no signs of doing that today. Yes, they did have a Europa League game in mid week – but that cannot be an excuse for how poor he was on Sunday. He needs to up his game, as the Blues’ next fixture is against Liverpool in the Cup – and they come up against a team high on confidence after their latest win. Supporters will have their fingers crossed that he is much better against the Reds – as performing like he did against West Ham will not get him anywhere.
