Jermaine Jenas heaped highlighted West Ham winger Felipe Anderson when delivering his verdict on the current squad.

The BBC pundit shared that the current batch of Hammers players were clearly talented but that you question whether they were brave enough to stand up and not be consumed by the crowd.

Jenas raved about Anderson briefly during his verdict as he claimed that from what he had seen of him, he looked liked a “right player.”

“I think it’s that courage (what Arnautovic showed last season when struggling) that is needed when wearing that shirt,” said Jenas on BBC 5 Live (Friday 14th September, 19:49).

“You can be as good as you want but that crowd can consume you I think and I think you have to be really brave and stand up it.

“So it’s just whether they have those players, who have that ability to do that as they’re talented and Anderson looks a right player from what I’ve seen.”

OPINION

Anderson who stands at 5ft 9in tall (Source: Transfermarkt) joined in July from Lazio with a lot of hype surrounding him as it seem to take ages for the Hammers to get the signing of him over the line. For this reason, and his price tag, Hammers supporters are expecting Anderson to be able to move mountains and wow them with his ability, but as of yet he has only shown a glimpse of his talents. The winger has featured in all of the five Hammers’ games of the season and is clearly still adjusting to the demands of English football. Anderson has at times not looked fully fit or able to handle the tempo of the Premier League but surely those issues will soon pass as he spends more time at the London Stadium. It is a positive sign that a pundit such as Jenas has seen enough to suggest that Anderson could shine at the Hammers as after not racking up the goals or assists there will be some doubting his talents.
