If there is anything that West Ham United lack, it is the ability to be clinical in the final third more often, especially now they have lost three games on the bounce.

They have only managed to net two goals in their last three games, and show no signs of being a genuine attacking threat any time soon.

This needs to change, and quickly – and they must do so for the sake of £48million signing Felipe Anderson.

So far in this Premier League campaign, the club’s record recruit as not really had the chance to prove why he was worth such a high price tag, and the fault lays with the entire midfield.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp labelled the 25-year-old as “electric” in his Daily Mail column, but he also pointed out that his team mates have to be “more clinical” in order to bring the best out of him.

Anderson is capable of a lot more than he has already shown, but he should not be blamed for that – if they can help fulfil his potential, then he will be one of the Hammers’ most pivotal players this season.

Seeming as they spent a reported £48million to acquire the Brazilian’s services, the club obviously want Anderson to live up to expectations, but he definitely will not do that based on the Irons’ current form.

It is surprising that West Ham have not lit up the top-flight with such a stellar signing, and if they do not improve in time for the end of the season, then Anderson will likely move to a club where he can fit in.

The likes of Michail Antonio seem to be unable to link up with the new name effectively, and not enough balls are being played to allow him to work his magic in attack.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side need to be more clinical to adapt to their new playmaker, otherwise all of their hard work this summer will just go down the drain.
