West Ham United’s attack has been lacking somewhat in recent Premier League games, and they need to change things up in order to bring it to life.

They splashed the cash on some attacking signings this summer, one which includes Andriy Yarmolenko, who is yet to be handed his first competitive start.

The 28-year-old featured heavily in the Hammers’ pre-season friendlies this summer, where he featured pre-dominantly on the right-wing during his outings for the side.

However, he has not yet started in game in the top-flight, which is surprising considering that the Irons are currently lacking the threat in that area.

As he demonstrated in his showings during the summer, Yarmolenko has the ability to cut in on his stronger left foot and whip balls into the box.

This is just what West Ham need with the likes of Marko Arnautovic spear heading the strike force – and Manuel Pellegrini must integrate him more into the side to add this extra bit of energy.

The Ukrainian flyer is also known to have good pace and the ability to unlock the opponents’ defence at a moment’s notice.

Given all these attributes, many would be left scratching their heads as to why he has not made a start in the Premier League yet.

West Ham are crying out for goals after only netting two in their first three games – and Pellegrini must exploit his talent for his and the team’s benefit.

They lack that edge going forward, and they need someone who has an excellent touch in the final third to bear the burden of goals.

The Chilean must throw the winger into the deep end immediately, otherwise his tired-looking attack will start to lack the energy to go forward effectively.

If anyone can solve West Ham’s attacking crisis, it is Yarmolenko – and his talents need to be utilised to end the team’s Premier League goal drought.
