West Ham have decided that FC Porto attacker Moussa Marega is too expensive to sign at this time, according to the Daily Mail.

The national newspaper claim that while the Hammers have spoken to the Portuguese giants about their hotshot forward, they deem him too expensive to sign at this stage.

Marega who scored 23 goals in 40 outings for Porto last season was previously reported by Portuguese outlet CM Jornal as being valued in the region of £30.9million by his current club.

OPINION

While Marega would be a fantastic signing who would fire the Hammers to glory under Manuel Pellegrini in their upcoming campaign, it’s understandable that he is too costly to pursue at this time. The Premier League side have nearly spent £100million on new recruits as it stands, as stated by The Sun, so it’s easy to believe that there isn’t enough cash left in the transfer market to seriously pursue Marega at this time. The 23-goal hot shot no doubt has a string of admirers following another prolific campaign which means he could go well above his current £30.9million price tag even if the Hammers find enough money to match his believed valuation. As time is rapidly ticking down on the current transfer window, it makes the senses that the Hammers have quickly made a decision regarding their pursuit of Marega as they need to find another striker to sign who fits the bill and their budget.
