West Ham are interested in signing Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer, according to The Sun.

According to the newspaper’s print edition on Sunday (5th August, page 61) the Hammers and Leicester City are keen to recruit the 24-year-old who earns £150,000-a-week at the Nou Camp.

The Sun report that Barcelona are seeking a £3million loan fee for Alcacer and want all of his wages covered in order to approve his temporary exit.

OPINION

Alcacer could certainly be a player capable of firing the Hammers to glory as he was once seen as being worth paying out £17.8million for however loaning him seems like a costly pursuit. Normally a club tries to loan a player instead of buying them in order to avoid paying out a huge amount of money but when you consider that it will not only cost £3million to loan him but his bumper pay packet has to be covered too then this could be a pricey deal for the Hammers to agree to. However given his attacking talents, even if his time at the Nou Camp has been disappointing, Manuel Pellegrini would be wise to recruit the Spaniard if he has the funds to do so. Alcacer who scored 13 goals in 34 league appearances in his 2015/16 season for Valencia in order to attract Barcelona to his services, could be a lethal finisher for a club once again if given the right guidance and opportunities.
