Arsenal attacker Lucas Perez hopes to complete a move to West Ham on Tuesday, according to the London Evening Standard.

The newspaper claim that the 29-year-old forward is reluctant to leave the Gunners but after struggling for opportunities he wants to seal a move to the Hammers as he would be offered more playing time at the London Stadium compared to if he stayed put.

The London Evening Standard report that while Italian giants Lazio are one of the player’s suitors having expressed an interest in his services, Perez’s first preference is to stay in England’s capital.

The Evening Standard previously stated that Manuel Pellegrini’s side were exploring agreeing a cut-price £5million deal with the Gunners over signing their attacker.

OPINION

Given that Perez has hardly been given a kick of the ball throughout his Gunners career then it makes sense that the Premier League side are willing to get his £80,000-a-week (Source: Total Sportek) wage off their books. In fact the 29-year-old has been used so rarely that according to the Evening Standard’s latest report that has left him averaging a goal or assist every 74 minutes for the London side. It was made quite clear as soon as he arrived at the Gunners in 2016 that he didn’t fit Arsene Wenger’s style of play and the stubborn manager wasn’t going to change his system anytime soon. However unfortunately for the Spanish 29-year-old it seems new Gunners boss Unai Emery isn’t willing to include him in his plans at the club as he aims to make his mark as Wenger’s successor. Though it now seems like Perez is about to be given a fantastic opportunity to revive his Premier League career at the Hammers as Manuel Pellegrini appears to be willing to take a gamble and secure his services.
