West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang is tempted to exit the club as he is happier playing his football in Italy, according to a club insider.

ExWHUemployee, who is a reliable source of information in regards to the Hammers, was asked by a supporter why the 26-year-old would want to leave the club and suggested that it was simply because an Italian side had shown interest in him.

The Hammers insider claimed that while Obiang had expressed a desire to leave the London Stadium this summer, he did like what Manuel Pellegrini had created at the club so far.

OPINION

Obiang has consistently been linked with a move to his former club Sampdoria with Sky Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio even stating via his official website that they had bid £7.9million in order to try and tear him away. However Claret & Hugh have since reported that Obiang is set to stay despite his temptation to leave as they won’t be able to secure a replacement in time, which seems like a smart decision. While normally a club should eagerly bin a player who isn’t fully committed to the club based on the insider’s update, Obiang is inspired by the work Pellegrini is doing at the London Stadium. The 26-year-old featured 21 times in the Premier League last season and would have played more if his campaign wasn’t drastically affected by injury. Given that Obiang is one of the only midfielders at the club who seems like a competent option to play as a defensive midfielder then it’s clear that Pellegrini has to do what is best and block any side’s attempt to poach him before transfer deadline day.
