West Ham United have tabled a lucrative offer to lure Leicester City head of recruitment Eduardo Macia to the London Stadium, according to ESPN.

The broadcaster report that the Hammers have offered the Spaniard a bumper pay rise from his current deal with the Foxes as they look for him to join their recruitment set-up alongside director of football Mario Husillos.

ESPN claim that the Irons initially approached Macia months ago as a candidate for director of football, but he would now join the club alongside eventual choice Husillos in a system similar to that seen at Arsenal.

It is said that AC Milan have also submitted a big offer to the 44-year-old, who has previously worked for Liverpool in the Premier League.

OPINION

West Ham are obviously keen to build on their impressive summer spending spree by filling out their recruitment department even further with more experienced heads. Hiring Macia would be a brilliant coup if they managed to bring him in from Leicester, with his experience in the Premier League sure to help Husillos settle into the job. It is not clear how much of a say Husillos actually had in the club’s summer business, with him arriving into the role half way through the window, but he will now be looking to assert his influence at the London Stadium. The addition of Macia would help him do that, and the club would have an extremely exciting recruitment team overseeing their transfer business. Whether the Hammers will be successful is another matter entirely though, with Leicester sure to be keen to keep him around and AC also lurking with their big money offer.
