West Ham United are in a four-way hunt for Republic of Ireland youth international forward Elvis Azah, according to the Daily Mail

The newspaper report that the Hammers are running the rule over the jet-heeled 17-year-old after he spent pre-season on trial with Cardiff City and scored twice against their under-18s in a friendly match.

The Mail claim that Premier League and London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested in the Ghana-born versatile attacker, who recently received his Irish citizenship, along with Cardiff.

It is said that Azah has recently moved to London and impressed scouts during a match at the AG Football Academy.

OPINION

Azah has obviously caught the Hammers eye with his performances for Cardiff during pre-season, and they would do well to secure a deal for the promising 17-year-old. Azah is hugely versatile, being comfortable on both wings while also being able to lead the line up top, and his talent looks to have attracted the attention of several top clubs. His recent Irish citizenship mean a move to an English club is now on the cards for the youngster, who has also spent time on trial across the border at Celtic. Manchester United and Everton are also known to have taken him on board for short periods, but were unable to complete a move for him due to his lack of an Irish passport. Azah has recently moved to London in an attempt to further his football career, and West Ham would do brilliantly to beat out their rivals for his signature. His pace and trickery are his main attributes and he looks like he could go on to big things if given the right environment to develop in.
