West Ham United are preparing to go back in for Real Betis attacker Antonio Sanabria, according to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo.

Estadio claim that the Hammers are readying a £20million bid for the Paraguay international, despite being close to the signing of Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

The East London outfit have shown the most interest in signing Sanabria, and Beits are thought to be willing to deal at around the £20million mark.

The attacker’s former team Roma will be due 50% of any potential transfer, a condition of the 22-year-old’s move to Spain in 2016.

OPINION

This is a deal which has rumbled on for a little while now. Clearly Sanabria is extremely talented, and West Ham are obviously keen to bring him on board, so they simply need to get a deal done now. We’ve seen the Hammers spend far more than £20million on a player already this summer, so the finances shouldn’t be a problem. The difficulty would be if Betis were to demand a hugely inflated transfer fee because they know they’d only be getting half of it. The East London outfit have been in dire need of attacking reinforcements ahead of this season, with the club far too reliant of Javier Hernandez at present. Sanabria would be as good a bet as anyone else to help Chicharito carry the load, and at £20million he wouldn’t be too expensive considering his youth. His goal record isn’t particularly stellar, but the Hammers would be buying potential more than anything with this move.
