West Ham have been given a boost ahead of their game on Sunday as Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has been ruled out by manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Hammers take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in what is their opening Premier League fixture of the season.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side will most likely field a number of their new signings, with Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson, Lucas Perez and Andriy Yarmolenko set to make their competitive debuts.
However, they’ve also been given a boost as the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Dejan Lovren, a regular in the starting XI for the Reds, will be missing on Sunday.
“Dejan is unavailable for the weekend,’ Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.
This is good news for West Ham’s new attacking players, they can look to exploit the missing names in the Liverpool defence on Sunday. The likes of Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Lucas Perez will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a Reds youngster in the heart of the Anfield club’s defence, as they look to get the best possible start to Manuel Pellegrini’s season by pulling off an unlikely win away at the Merseyside club. The Hammers can look forward to the new season with excitement and optimism after getting a great manager and signing a number of extremely talented players in all areas of the pitch. This is a new West Ham team, with new hope, new players and a new manager, and the fans will be hoping it performs better than they have in recent seasons. It all starts on Sunday with a trip to Liverpool.
